And now we have meat glue

If you want to observe the wonders of capitalism up close, all you need to do is to step into a food factory. Cancer, Alzheimer, Diabetes and Hypertension is manufactured here and mashed, glued, extruded, emulsified, stabilized and put together into pieces of delectable materials known as food. You think I am throwing a hyperbole here then you need to look closely. In fact, you might need glasses because these things are printed right on some of the favorites products at your superstore. If you see any of the following, I can guarantee you that what you are eating is not real food. Here you go.

  1. Monosodium Glutamate
  2. Sodium Nitrite
  3. Guar Gum
  4. HFCS or Corn Syrup or High Fructose Corn Syrup
  5. Carrageenan
  6. Sodium or Potassium Benzoate
  7. Food colors such as Yellow No. 5/6, Red Dye 2/2, Blue 1/2
  8. Aspartame
  9. Potassium Bromate
  10. Sodium Sulfite
  11. Sulfur Dioxide
  12. BHA and BHT
  13. Transglutaminase

and the list goes on and on. You might notice that some of these sound like you are in a chemistry lab while others look pretty innocuous. Food industry realizes that and comes up with friendlier names for some products all the time. For example, MSG is sometimes hidden as Yeast extract.

Anyway, I was going to talk about the last one in this list, Transglutaminase. This stuff is seriously bad for you and if you eat Meat or Tofu and buy them from supermarket, you must have had it already. This chemical is used to glue meat and other products together. Yeap, you heard it right!

The company that brought MSG and Aspartame to our kitchen is responsible for this newest addition. All three are considered neurotoxins in scientific circles. Transglutaminase is affectionately called TG and is an enzyme that helps bind proteins together like super glue. Why the meat industry loves this? Simple, it converts shavings and byproducts of a slaughterhouse into a proper steak or large pieces of meat. The industry literally takes little pieces of meat chunks and throws together with the TG and few hours later, you have a large piece of meat that you cannot tell apart from the original cut.

You are a complete ignorant if you feed yourself or your kids that 20-piece chicken nugget meal from your favorite fast food joint. That’s not chicken. It’s most the discarded pieces glued together into chunks shaped evenly for your pleasure.

You’d think FDA or USDA would step in and prevent this from happening. If such neurotoxins as Aspartame and MSG are classified as “generally recognized as safe” what would you expect. You can choose to trust them, or be completely oblivious and ignorant or simply start reading labels and learning what you are signing up for in your old age. Worse still, what you are subjecting your kids to, who are growing with mostly manufactured and industrial food.

“What you are is what you eat” is proven at cellular level. Everything that your entire body is made of comes from the food you consume. Every particle of food disintegrates in your gut into its simpler constituents that get absorbed into your body and moves into new cells. Start transforming your food habits as soon as you can by avoiding processed foods altogether. Instead of super market, starting making trips to your local farmer market instead.
